The Tailgate Concert Series at UB home football games will be back this fall with a lineup of performers that includes ‘70s favorites KC and the Sunshine Band and up-and-coming country singer Eric Paslay.
Each concert in the six-concert series will begin three hours before kickoff. The free concerts will take place in Stampede Square in the Stadium Parking Lot between the stadium and Millersport Highway.
The country duo Thompson Square opens this year’s series with a concert before the Bulls’ home opener against Albany on Sept. 5. Other acts performing in the series are Paslay (Sept. 26 versus Nevada), KC and the Sunshine Band (Oct. 3, Bowling Green), the contemporary country rock band Old Dominion (Oct. 24, Ohio), the Fleetwood Mac tribute band Rumourz (Nov. 11, Northern Illinois) and Strictly Hip, a Buffalo-based band that plays the music of the Tragically Hip (Nov. 27, UMass).
The Tailgate Concert Series began in fall 2013 as part of a new initiative by UB Athletics to improve the fan experience at the home football games. Among the other additions to the home-game experience were an enhanced “Walk to Victory” by the football team, interactive fan activities, giveaways and the broadcast of a live radio pregame show courtesy of ESPN 1520 AM in Stampede Square.
UB faculty and staff may purchase season tickets for $75, a savings of $50 over the regular price of $125. The number of tickets that can be purchased at the special $75 rate is unlimited, as long as the tickets are purchased by UB employees.
UB Athletics also is offering special $32 VIP Experience Packs, featuring a VIP credential, game ticket and front-of-stage access for the tailgate concert.
