BUFFALO, N.Y. — Attention parents: Is your child into robots?

If so, the University at Buffalo is hosting a free event Saturday that you should check out.

Organized by UB’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering, the day includes a variety of robot-centric events suitable for elementary, middle and high school students.

Children will learn from professors, alumni and UB students how to program robots. They’ll also get to interact with robots of different shapes and sizes, from industrial robots such as Baxter to drones and other smaller robots.

Bonus: they’ll also have the chance to take a short ride in UB’s self-driving shuttle, Olli.

Where: Davis Hall on North Campus. Here’s a map: http://www.buffalo.edu/home/visiting-ub/CampusMaps/maps.html#DAVIS.

When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more specific details, visit: https://cse.buffalo.edu/~nnapp/UBRoboticsDay.pdf.

What to wear: Since Halloween is just around the corner, attendees are welcome to wear costumes. Children who dress up as robots will be eligible for candy prizes.

On-site media contacts: Nils Napp and Karthik Dantu, both assistant professors in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
