Buffalo, NY - The Center for the Arts, University at Buffalo will present Russian National Ballet Theatre in Swan Lake on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 7:30pm in the Mainstage Theatre, located at the Center for the Arts, North Campus. The performance is sponsored by M&T Bank.

The revered full-length ballet in four acts incorporates scenes of celebration, sadness, and evil spirits and is set to music by Tchaikovsky and choreography by Marius Petipa. The classic love story of the Prince and Odette will be performed by the acclaimed Company of fifty dancers, with set and costume designs by Elena Radchenko, Sergey Radchenko, and Kiril Andreev.

The Russian National Ballet Theatre was founded in Moscow during the transitional period of perestroika in the late 1980s, when many of the great dancers and choreographers of the Soviet Union's ballet institutions were exercising their new-found creative freedom by starting new, vibrant companies. In 1994, the legendary Bolshoi principal dancer Elena Radchenko was selected by Presidential decree to assume the first permanent artistic directorship of the Company. She has focused the Company on upholding the grand national tradition of the major Russian ballet works and developing new talents throughout Russia.
