The University at Buffalo Theatre & Dance Department will present Emerging Choreographers Showcase from December 4-6, 2015. Performance times are: Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm; Sunday at 6:00pm. All performances will be held in the Katharine Cornell Theatre, 102 Fillmore-Ellicott Academic Complex, University at Buffalo North Campus. Tickets are $20, Students (any school) & Seniors $10.
Emerging Choreographers Showcase is a dance concert of new works by advanced-level UB student choreographers. The showcase, directed by Associate Professor Melanie Aceto, features ten new works by choreographers Megan Baltar, Hayley Bjorn, Allyson Buttram, Caitlyn Green, Elizabeth Kaltenbach, Sadie Mcnamara, Michaela Neild, Talia Putrino, Jonathan Yepez and Katherine Wawrzaszek. Student lighting designers include Logan Bennet, Alexander Farley, Sinclair Johnson, Suoyang Li, Yeseo Mun, Jordan Rosas and Leo Tozzi. Through a fusion of styles, the works explore themes including sensory awareness, death and rejoicing in the afterlife, self-discovery, and the neck as a symbol of the separation of the body and mind, and a classic Jazz dance narrative.
The UB Department of Theatre & Dance 2015-16 season takes inspiration from one of the five named UB 2020 themes, Justice.
