BUFFALO, N.Y. -- University at Buffalo President Satish K. Tripathi released this statement welcoming President Barack Obama to the UB campus on Thursday, Aug. 22.

The University at Buffalo is very pleased and proud to host President Obama.  The president’s visit to UB will be a historic occasion for our university and our community, and we are happy to provide a forum for the president to address issues important to our nation.  Fostering a public space for discussing pressing societal issues is vital to our mission as a leading research university focused on advancing the greater public good.  We are delighted to have the opportunity to host such a timely and meaningful conversation here at UB.

UB will hold a press briefing about Obama’s visit at noon today (Friday, Aug. 16) on the fifth floor of Capen Hall on the UB North Campus.

Updates from the University at Buffalo will be posted to the university’s website, www.buffalo.edu.

Further information regarding the timing, location and topic of President Obama’s address at UB will be forthcoming from the White House press office, as well as additional details about the availability of tickets for this event. 

Note to national media:  the official name of the university is “University at Buffalo, The State University of New York.”  However, “University at Buffalo,” is an acceptable abbreviation of the official name.
