UB Management Students Receive Commencement Awards

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Fifteen graduates of the University at Buffalo School of Management received awards during the school's commencement ceremonies on May 13.

The graduates and the awards they received are:

-- Ryan A. Linden of Plainview, the State University of New York Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence, presented to students who have best demonstrated, and been recognized for, the integration of academic excellence with other aspects of their lives, which includes arts, athletics, career achievement, community service and leadership. Linden also received the Undergraduate Student Achievement Award, presented to the undergraduate student who, in the opinion of the faculty, has demonstrated scholastic excellence and has also rendered outstanding extracurricular service to the school and the university.

-- Jinsoo Yeo of Williamsville, the Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key, presented to the full-time undergraduate student who compiles the highest management grade-point average of all eligible graduating students.

-- Farzad Jalilalghadr of Amherst, the Charles H. Diefendorf Award in Finance, presented to the student who has made the greatest contribution to the finance discipline.

-- Satheeshkumar Seenivasan of Amherst, the Paul E. Green Award in Marketing, presented to the School of Management doctoral student exemplifying excellence in the area of marketing research.

-- Erica M. Schmidt of Lockport and Amy M. Siena of West Seneca, the Sidney N. Kahn Memorial Award for Excellence in Sales and Marketing, presented to the MBA students who have made the greatest contribution to the field of sales and marketing.

-- Christina M. Ventresca of Amherst, the Eddy Lin Memorial Award, presented to a graduate student who is focusing on an accounting career with a mid-size public accounting firm. The recipient must also exhibit scholastic excellence, a passion for learning who actively mentors others, and have a caring and fun attitude.

-- Pranjal P. Raje of Buffalo, the Master of Science Student Achievement Award, presented to the MS student who, in the opinion of the faculty, has demonstrated scholastic excellence and has also rendered outstanding extracurricular service to the school and the university.

-- Libin Liu of Buffalo, the MBA Student Achievement Award, presented to the MBA student who, in the opinion of the faculty, has demonstrated scholastic excellence and has also rendered outstanding extracurricular service to the school and the university.

-- Manish Gupta of Tonawanda, the PhD Student Achievement Award, presented to the doctoral student who, in the opinion of the faculty, has demonstrated scholastic excellence and has also rendered outstanding extracurricular service to the school and the university.

-- Amanda M. Harris of Clarence Center, the Adriana Ilyse Thaler Memorial Senior Award in Marketing, presented to the senior marketing student who best demonstrates academic excellence, leadership, marketing professionalism and personal motivation.

-- Amanda A. Fox of Williamson, the University at Buffalo Accounting Association Michael S. Dockery Memorial Senior Award, presented to the senior accounting student who has contributed in a superior way to the Institute of Management Accountants and the accounting profession, fellow students and the School of Management.

-- Ore M. Ajakaiye of Springfield Gardens, the Dr. Marcel and Mrs. Kathryn Vinokur Award to Promote Global Understanding, presented to the graduating School of Management student born outside of North America who contributes to promoting global understanding among MBA students.

-- Ingmar Haffke of Amherst, the Wall Street Journal Award for Academic Excellence by an MBA Student, presented to the full-time MBA student who compiles the highest grade point average of all eligible graduating students.

-- Elizabeth Vinson of Marathon, the Dr. Jerry and Mrs. Dina Wind Award to Promote International Understanding, presented to the student born in the U.S. who contributes to promoting international understanding among MBA students.
