BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Center for the Arts Video Production group at the University at Buffalo has been nominated for a 2011 New York Emmy Award. The honor recognizes an informational video produced by the center for a national engineering organization.

The project, entitled "Industrial Engineers Make A Difference," features industrial engineers in diverse workplaces such as Hershey's, Disney World and the Kennedy Space Center and is used to educate students about careers in the field. The piece includes several University at Buffalo alumni, and features Patrick S. Sunderlin (BS, Industrial Engineering, '85) who currently serves as director and deputy vice president of operations at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control in Orlando, Fla.

The center created this project for the Institute of Industrial Engineers, in partnership with Rakesh Nagi, chair of UB's Department of Industrial Engineering.

Thomas Burrows, executive director of the Center for the Arts, stated, "The Center for the Arts has achieved tremendous growth in our numerous programs and initiatives. Video production is one of our more recent undertakings, and it is rewarding to see our work gaining recognition on a broader level."

The Center for the Arts Video Production group is a professional television and video outlet dedicated to enhancing communication about the Center for the Arts, the University at Buffalo and affiliated groups. It collaborates with a wide range of university clients to produce videos for marketing, development, education and entertainment. Since 2006, the group has been honored with 14 national Telly Awards.
