Michael Cain, dean of the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, will introduce the new director of UB's Hunter James Kelly Research Institute at a news conference on Thursday, Aug. 12, at 10 a.m.

Where: UB's New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences, 701 Ellicott Street (2nd floor) in Buffalo.

Cain also will introduce a world-class researcher who has been recruited from Italy along with the new director to advance the work of the institute.

Other speakers will include Hall of Fame Quarterback Jim Kelly and his wife Jill.

The new UB physicians/researchers are internationally recognized experts in myelination (pronounced my-uh-lin-A-shun) and related disorders, including Krabbe disease, which claimed the life of Jim and Jill Kelly's son Hunter. The appointments are in collaboration with Hunter's Hope Foundation, established in 1997 by the Kellys.
