BUFFALO, N.Y. -- University at Buffalo President John B. Simpson will take calls from WBFO-FM listeners in a live question-and-answer radio broadcast at 3 p.m. on Sept. 23, a few hours after he delivers his most comprehensive and direct policy address of the year to the community.

Simpson's first-ever call-in radio broadcast will be heard on WBFO-FM 88.7, UB's NPR affiliate and recipient of many national and regional broadcasting awards. The hour-long broadcast also will be available later that day as a podcast on the WBFO Web site, according to Mark A. Scott, news director for WBFO.

"We are really pleased and honored to have President Simpson in this role for the first time," said Scott. "We're excited about giving our listeners a chance to talk about his visions of the university and the university's role in our community."

The radio broadcast follows Simpson's 8 a.m. address to the community in Asbury Hall, 341 Delaware Ave., in Buffalo. More than 400 community members are expected to attend. His address will outline progress being made on the implementation of UB 2020, UB's long-term strategic plan. Simpson will also detail the work ahead for the university and the community to fulfill the potential of the UB 2020 plan.

Listeners are encouraged to call 829-6000 with their questions during the radio broadcast.

UB will be issuing Twitter texts live from Simpson's address via two UB Twitter accounts: http://twitter.com/UBNewsSource and http://twitter.com/UBCommunity. Video, audio and text transcripts of Simpson's speech will be available at http://www.buffalo.edu/president.
