UB Educational Opportunity Center to Hold Orientation Program on Careers in Life Sciences

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The University at Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center will host an "iSci WNY" Orientation in its facility at 465 Washington St. in downtown Buffalo, from 9-11 a.m. April 22 in the EOC ATTAIN (Advanced Technology Training and Information Networking) Lab.

Participants will be introduced to various careers in the life sciences and the kinds of jobs that are available in Western New York, and will have the opportunity to explore the skills, education and training steps necessary for success. The presentation will include discussion of the many employment opportunities available in life sciences, including jobs as varied as office assistant, scientist, customer service representative and lab technician.

iSci WNY is the area gateway to the life sciences industry in Western New York. Combining science and technology, the life sciences industry makes products and services to improve health and well-being, such as medical tests, medical devices and pharmaceuticals.

This interactive orientation will include participants from the ATTAIN Labs in Buffalo, Niagara Falls and Perry via distance learning. The ATTAIN Lab is a statewide technology initiative to provide the community-at-large with access to computer technologies, education and training. The ATTAIN Labs feature state-of-the-art equipment and user-friendly software, offering more than 30 academic and vocational programs.
