UB to Hold 2008 Summer Dance Program

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The University at Buffalo Department of Theatre and Dance will again offer its exciting and educational Summer Dance Program.

All classes will be held in the dance studios in Room B82 in the Center for the Arts on the UB North (Amherst) Campus. Classes will be taught by UB Department of Theatre and Dance faculty and guest artists. Classes are open to all dancers, studio members, UB students and community members.

Intermediate/advanced-level master classes will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, June 30 to July 24, as follows: ballet, Mondays; modern dance, Tuesdays; special, Wednesdays; Jazz, Thursdays.

Card cost:

1 (1.5 hour) class, $10

4-class card, $36

8-class card, $68

12-class card, $96

Tap clases will be held Thursdays from 7:45-8:45 p.m. One 1-hour class will be $8; four 1-hour classes will be $28.

Cards are good for the summer 2008; no refunds will be available. Checks may be made payable to: UB Dept. of Theatre and Dance Summer Program. Cards may be purchased at door only; there will be no pre-registration. Evening dance program participants must be at least 16 years of age.

The day program, to be held from July 7-10 and July 14-17, will offer morning technique classes in ballet, modern dance and jazz Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Two class levels will be available: beginner/intermediate and intermediate/advanced. Cost for the day program will be $125 for one week and $230 for two weeks.

The afternoon program -- intensive choreography and performance will be held Monday through Wednesday, plus performance on Thursday, from 1:30-3 p.m. Two skill levels will be offered: beginner/intermediate and intermediate/advanced. Cost will be $175 for one week and $325 for two weeks.

Participants in the day program must be at least freshmen in high school.
