BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Arena Entertainment will present comedian D.L. Hughley at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 28 in the Mainstage theater in the Center for the Arts on the University at Buffalo's North (Amherst) Campus.

One of the most popular and highly recognized standup comedians on the road today has also made quite an impression in the feature film and television arena. Hughley recently starred in NBC-TV's "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip." He also recently starred in a one-hour comedy special for HBO entitled "Maybe It's Just Me."

Hughley spent four successful years starring in his own sitcom "The Hughleys." In 2005-06, Hughley hosted his own late night talk show for Comedy Central "Weekends at the DL." The talk show fulfilled one of Hughley's dreams to host his own late night talk show. Also currently airing on Comedy Central is Hughley's one-hour comedy special "Shocked and Appalled." On the CD side, Huchley's long-awaited comedy CD, "Notes from the GED Section," is currently available.

It was the mega-hit "Original Kings of Comedy" that launched Hughley into superstardom. The film, based on the 1999 tour featuring Hughley, Bernie Mac, Steve Harvey and Cedric the Entertainer, garnered close to $40 million at the box office and became one of the highest-selling DVDs in 2001. In 1999, the four comedians embarked on a national tour, which sold out most of the major concert arenas in more than 50 cities across the country. Spike Lee, eager to expose the tour to a larger audience, made a docu-film of the tour, and it was released nationwide to rave reviews.

Hughley has undoubtedly proved himself as one of the hardest-working men in showbiz. In addition to his growing film resume, Hughley continues his reign on the standup comedy front, filling out concert arenas and headlining comedy clubs across the country. His one-hour HBO special, "D.L Hughley Going Home," earned him a nomination for an NAACP Image Award.

With his innate ability to make people laugh, Hughley began his career as a comedian working in small clubs, and cites his appearance on HBO's "Def Comedy Jam" as one of his earliest breaks in the business. As a result of his work on HBO and his quick rise in popularity among the audiences he constantly kept in stitches, Hughley was chosen as the first host of "ComicView" on BET.

Tickets for his performance are $35 and $25. Tickets are available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday in the Center for the Arts Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations, including Kaufmann's.
