UB School Of Management Honors 11 Professionals

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Career Resource Center and the LEAP (Learning Experientially in an Academic Practicum) Program in the University at Buffalo School of Management honored 11 professionals on April 13 at a reception in the Jacobs Executive Development Center, 672 Delaware Ave.

School of Management Dean John M. Thomas presented the awards. The Career Resource Center Alumnus-of-the-Year Award was presented to Matthew Spillane, regional sales manager for Pepsi Bottling Group, as the alumnus having the greatest positive impact on undergraduate and masters-level students in the School of Management.

The Career Resource Center Recruiter-of-the-Year Award went to Ben Gregory, store team leader with Target Corp., for making a significant impact on the recruitment of School of Management students.

Ernst & Young received the Career Resource Center Recruiting Organization-of-the-Year Award.

In addition, the LEAP Program presented nine awards, representing various functional areas, to intern supervisors for their contributions to the professional development of the UB interns who worked for them.

The recipients were: Beth Bauman, manager of tax compliance and financial reporting, Sorrento Lactalis (accounting); John Tyczynski, senior vice president of investments, Legg Mason Wood Walker (finance); Siobhan Smith, human resources consultant, Perry's Ice Cream Co. (human resources); Kimberly Standish, financial auditor, National Fuel Gas Co. (internal audit); Jay Mileham, business development officer, Canadian Consulate General (international business); John Cimasi, vice president, Citigroup Corporate and Investment Bank (management information systems); Regis O'Connor, senior manager marketing research, Fisher-Price (marketing); Brian Durant, marketing manager of the learning team, Fisher-Price (marketing), and Ron Covelli, process improvement coordinator, Moog (supply chains and operations management).

Interns nominated supervisors for recognition. Finalists were chosen by Assistant Professor Raymond Orrange, LEAP faculty director, and BobbyJo Simpson, administrative director.
