BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The BS/MS program in athletic training offered by the Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences in the University at Buffalo School of Public Health and Health Professions has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), the national accrediting agency in the field of allied health.

The UB program is the first -- and currently only -- five-year, combined bachelor's/master's degree program in the country to be accredited by CAAHEP. It combines exercise science and athletic training into one curriculum.

Students graduating from the program are eligible to sit for the National Athletic Trainers' Association's certification exam.

Paula Maxwell, clinical associate professor in the Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, serves as program director.
