BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Tamar Jacobson, Ph.D., of North Buffalo, director of the University at Buffalo Child Care Center Inc., which operates child-care centers on the UB North and South campuses, was selected "director of the year" by the National Coalition for Campus Children's Centers (NCCCC) at the group's annual meeting this spring in Washington, D.C.

NCCCC supports research and activities affecting college and university early childhood education and service settings, family and work issues, and the field of early childhood education in general.

She has been a member of the adjunct faculty in the Social Sciences Interdisciplinary degree program at UB for the past decade, teaching undergraduate classes in child development and supervising interns in the program's Early Childhood Education Practicum.

Jacobson has served as co-president of the New York State Association for the Education of Young Children, an affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). She also has been president of the Western New York chapter of NAEYC.

She received bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from UB.
