BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Robert O. Davies has been named assistant vice president for alumni relations at UB.

Davies comes to UB from Boise State University in Boise, Idaho, where he was director of alumni relations and executive director of the Boise State University Alumni Association.

At Boise, he developed and instituted the first comprehensive strategic plan for the alumni association. This plan resulted in a significant increase in association memberships, development of new geographic and academic chapters, and a number of innovative student traditions. His efforts also resulted in the acquisition and development of a 7,000-square-foot Alumni Center.

"Bob Davies has an impressive record of alumni relations and university advancement experience. We are confident that he will have a profound impact on alumni relations at the University at Buffalo," said Ronald H. Stein, UB vice president for advancement and development.

"Bob has the experience, energy and enthusiasm necessary to propel UB's Alumni Relations program to new heights," Stein added. "The leadership he will bring to the alumni relations team promises to benefit the entire alumni community."

In addition to his background in alumni relations, Davies is experienced in university advancement and development. As director of annual giving at the University of Nevada, Reno, he spearheaded many aspects of the school's fund-raising efforts and was actively involved in a successful capital campaign. He was also responsible for campaign marketing and public relations, rounding out the set of skills that he brings to his UB post.

Davies holds an MBA from the University of Oregon and a bachelor's degree from the University of Nevada, Reno. His professional memberships include the American Marketing Association and the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). He was serving as a member of CASE's Far West District VII board of directors at the time of his UB appointment.

He is a resident of East Amherst.
