UB Students Initiated Into Spanish National Honor Society

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Fourteen UB students have been initiated into Beta Nu, the UB Chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, the national collegiate honor society in Spanish.

Sigma Delta Pi was founded in 1918 at the University of California-Berkeley to honor those who seek and attain excellence in the study of the Spanish language and the study of the literature and culture of Spanish-speaking peoples. Its goal also is to foster friendly relations and mutual respect between the nations of Hispanic speech and the nations of English speech.

The new members, who have proven their excellence in Hispanic studies by maintaining high grade-point averages in Spanish and their other subjects, are:

BUFFALO: Eric Elniski and Jennifer Osuch

CHEEKTOWAGA: Jessica R. Coniglio, Amy Sorrentino and Jennifer Zielinski

GRAND ISLAND: Ezequiel Ruiz

JACKSON HEIGHTS: Monica Gallego

LANCASTER: Katie L. Hewitt

OSWEGO: Melissa A. Ryan

PENFIELD: Kristen Zimmerman

PLAINVIEW: Jessica Kleinhaut

POMONA: Daniel Sandberg

ROCHESTER: Sarita Rivera

WILLIAMSVILLE: Rosa Lina Falcone
