Surgeon General to Commission 4 UB Medical School Grads

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Four graduates of the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences will be commissioned into the armed forces by U.S. Surgeon General David Satcher immediately after the school's commencement ceremony on May 19.

Satcher, who also serves as U.S. assistant secretary for health, will speak at the commencement ceremony at 2 p.m. in the Center for the Arts on the UB North (Amherst) Campus.

The commissioning ceremony will take place in the Green Room in the Center for the Arts.

Those being commissioned are Allyson Shirtz Howe of Batavia, U.S. Air Force; David Herbert Rice of Sherman, U.S. Air Force; Phaelon Silva of Buffalo, U.S. Army, and Jason Lake of Albion, U.S. Army.
