Stuttering Workshop To Be Held At UB

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A workshop to help teens and adults who stutter assess their communication strengths and learn how to improve their effectiveness as communicators will be part of a conference to be held April 29 at UB.

The theme of the program, which will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in 280 Park Hall on the North Campus, is "Teaming Your Resources to Become an Effective Communicator."

The workshop is sponsored by the Buffalo Chapter of the National Stuttering Association. The Speech and Hearing Clinic, part of the Department of Communicative Disorders and Sciences in the UB College of Arts and Sciences, is a co-sponsor.

The workshop will be conducted by Steve B. Hood of the University of South Alabama and Gary J. Rentschler of Duquesne University, a former director of the UB Speech and Hearing Clinic.

The deadline for advance reservations is April 20.

The cost of the program is $40 in advance and $45 at the door for National Stuttering Association members; $45 in advance and $50 at the door for non-members, and $15 in advance and $20 at the door for students. Scholarships are available.
