BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The University at Buffalo Student Visual Art Organization (SVAO) and the Experimental Print Imaging Center (ePIC) will hold public workshops this summer on figure drawing and printmaking techniques.
The SVAO will sponsor figure-drawing sessions for beginners, students and artists every Tuesday from 3:30-6 p.m. and every Thursday from 7-10 p.m., now through Aug. 19, in Studio 218 in the Center for the Arts on the UB North (Amherst) Campus. Each session is $5. Participants will be provided with easels, but must bring their own drawing materials.
ePIC also will hold the following programs:
o Waterbased screen printing, June 15-17 and June 22-24. Mark Franchino, illustrator and printmaker, will be the instructor. Participants will produce two small prints using direct-drawn and direct-photo stencil, which are non-toxic, low-tech procedures.
o Toray silicone intaglio printing, July 19-23. The instructor will be master printer Carin Whitney. Toray silicone intaglio printing uses versatile, waterless, lithography plates on litho and intaglio presses to create book art and a variety of monoprints.
These workshops will run from 3-6:30 p.m. and are $70 for students and printshop members and $110 for the public. They will be held in the printmaking labs on the ground floor of the Center for the Arts. Most materials are included.
ePIC also offers community printshop and collaborative printing.
