Stewart Named Director of Office of Equity, Diversity And Affirmative Action Administration

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Loyce E. Stewart has been appointed director of the Office of Equity, Diversity and Affirmative Action Administration by President William R. Greiner.

Stewart, who has served as associate director of the office since 1992, has more than 25 years of experience in creating and evaluating affirmative-action programs in public and private sectors.

As director, Stewart will work to promote and maintain an equitable, diverse learning and working environment at UB, according to Greiner.

"As we enter the 21st century, issues of equity and diversity require our individual and institutional commitment," said Greiner. "Ms. Stewart will be responsible for shaping institutional policies to ensure equal opportunity and broaden diversity as integral components of our mission and the educational process."

Stewart also has served as an independent consultant providing advisement and training to organizations nationwide on equal-opportunity and affirmative-action issues.

Her professional affiliations include the American Association of University Administrators, National Association for Affirmative Action, Center for Constitutional Rights and American Studies Association.

Stewart holds a bachelor's degree from New York Institute of Technology and a master's degree in American studies from UB.

She lives on the West Side of Buffalo.
