BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The University at Buffalo chapter of the Golden Key National Honor Society recently recognized five UB faculty members and two "especially distinguished students" during its 11th annual fall induction ceremony.
The faculty members inducted as new honorary members were Ulrich J. Baur of Williamsville, assistant professor of physics; Linda Chattin of Williamsville, lecturer in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences; Gerard Rosenfeld of Williamsville, professor of anthropology; Claude E. Welch, Jr., of Snyder, SUNY Distinguished Service Professor in the Department of Political Science, and Margaret R. Wells of Kenmore, director of the Oscar A. Silverman Undergraduate Library.
The two students who received Golden Key Scholar Awards for high academic and extracurricular achievement were Ji-Hyae Park of Getzville, a junior majoring in English, and Margaret Chojnacki of Alden, a senior with a special major in broadcast and print journalism.
In addition, 350 juniors and seniors with grades that place them in the top 15 percent of their class received certificates at the ceremony.
Golden Key National Honor Society has charted chapters at 250 American colleges and universities and at several colleges and universities in Australia, Canada and Puerto Rico during the past 20 years.
The UB chapter was founded in 1988.
