BUFFALO, N.Y. - A newly created education and training effort to attract gifted MBA students to the University at Buffalo School of Management will offer Stephanie Argentine of Buffalo outstanding work experience and an exceptional job prospect at one of New York state's major corporations.

Argentine has been selected as the first recipient of the Xerox Fellowship for Recruiting Excellence, funded by a $25,000 gift to the management school from the Xerox Foundation.

UB and Xerox have a five-year memorandum of understanding outlining ways in which they will provide benefits to each other. Last December, Xerox became the first company to sign-on with the management school's Partnership for Recruiting Excellence Program (PREP-MBA).

The annual fellowship provides both a stipend from Xerox and a tuition scholarship from UB to cover costs for MBA studies. Candidates are screened by the management school based upon the student's undergraduate grade-point average, GMAT score and quality of the student's post-baccalaureate work experience, and forwarded to Xerox for selection input.

A practicing attorney before attending the management school, Argentine said she was "thrilled and somewhat surprised to learn I was selected for the Xerox Fellowship. It played a pivotal role in influencing my decision regarding the continuation of my education. The fellowship allows me to concentrate on my studies and to stay involved in my career at the same time."

The Xerox Partnership for Recruiting Excellence entitles the recipient to a summer internship and job consideration at Xerox upon graduation, a laptop computer, and a Xerox mentor who will assist and advise the student during their studies at UB.

The partnership with UB will help the management school in its recruiting efforts to attract highly qualified MBA students.

"I have nothing but positive feelings about Xerox and I hope to further my involvement with the company in the future," said Argentine. "Even the fellowship selection process was enjoyable. Everyone I have met has seemed genuinely interested in helping to further my career.

"Pursuing an MBA at UB as the first Xerox fellow is an incredible opportunity that I'm enjoying tremendously," she added.
