BUFFALO, N.Y. -- An exhibit featuring University at Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning student nominees for the annual PELLA scholarship award will be on display until March 6 in the James Dyett Gallery in Hayes Hall on the UB South (Main Street) Campus. The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

A reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, in the gallery, during which student nominees will give a brief presentation of their work.

"This is the first time the PELLA nominations have been displayed," said Dennis Andrejko, interim chair of the Department of Architecture. "The purpose is to highlight superior student work and give it more exposure to the public."

The competition and award are co-sponsored each year by the Westny Building Products Corp. and the Rolscreen Co. for "fenestration in architecture." Fenestration refers to the arrangement, proportioning and design of windows and doors in a building. Westny is the Buffalo distributor for PELLA Windows Corp., headquartered in Iowa.

The projects in the exhibit integrate fenestration in architectural design in sensitive, unique ways, capturing more than light, air and view.
