BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Efforts to raise awareness of the importance of private support and its lasting impact on the University at Buffalo have entered the world of cyberspace with the launching of the Office of University Development's new Web site.

Comprehensive, up-to-date information on advancement and development at UB is now available at http://www.buffalo.edu/giving.

The Web site will allow development-related news and activities to be easily accessed by both national and international UB alumni and friends, as well as current students, faculty and staff.

"With today's technological advances in higher education, this Web site is essential," said Ronald H. Stein, vice president for university advancement and development. "It will be a valuable link for the development office to communicate more efficiently with the university community, as well as alumni and friends throughout the world,"

The new site introduces visitors to UB development, the fundraising arm of the university. It provides the latest development news, calendars of upcoming events, various ways to support the university and the positive, far-reaching effect private support is having at UB. Easy access to learn more about providing support to UB or individual schools and departments, and how to obtain various publications from the university also are included on the site.

Due to preferences discovered in alumni surveys, the site also serves as a fast gateway to other interesting on-line sites at UB, such as UB Today, the university's alumni magazine, University Libraries, and Career Planning and Placement.

The design of the site, overseen by the Office of Development Communications in conjunction with After Five Technology of Buffalo, will allow high-tech advancements such as video and audio to be added easily in the future.
