BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Danielle Licitra of Dix Hills has received first-place honors in the 18th annual Nancy Welch Awards recognizing residential students at the University at Buffalo who have made significant contributions to the university community during the current academic year.
The award is given annually in honor of Nancy Welch, the former residential coordinator of Rachel Carson College.
Licitra was honored for her highly successful Anti Rape Task Force Mock Trial project.
Second-place honors went to Edward Ip of Brooklyn for his development of the residence halls' first para-professional newsletter, a monthly publication providing a common link between the North and South campuses.
Tied for third place were Heidi Ravenel of Fairport for her leadership in developing the Lesbian/Bi/Gay Friendly Discussion Group project and David Montag of Melville for organizing the Wilkeson Hall Council Toronto Raptors Bus Trip project.
Claude Welch, outgoing chair of the Faculty Senate and SUNY Distinguished Service Professor in the Department of Political Science, presented the awards.
