BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The fourth annual Childhood Violence Symposium will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, April 14th, in the Buffalo Hilton, 120 Church St., Buffalo.

The symposium, titled "Caring, Sharing and Creating a Non-Violent Community," is being presented by the UB Department of Pediatrics and the Children's Hospital of Buffalo, with financial support from Kiwanis International.

The program, which is open to the public, will feature national experts in the field, with a stress on prevention. There is a registration fee.

Four lectures will be presented during the morning session. Topics and speakers will be:

€ "Violence Prevention: A Multifaceted & Multidisciplinary, Community-Based Approach" -- Danielle LaRaque, M.D., medical director of the Pediatric Resource Center at Columbia University and Harlem Hospital

€ "Promoting Effective Family Life: Lessons on Video from Inner City Parents" -- James Sayre, M.D., clinical professor of pediatrics at the University of Rochester
