BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Four Freshmen will perform in a benefit concert for Habitat for Humanity-Buffalo and the University at Buffalo's student Habitat chapter at 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, in the Mainstage theater in the Center for the Arts on the UB North (Amherst) Campus.
The popular jazz vocal quartet continues the unique sound begun in 1948 by the original members.
Today's Four Freshman are Greg Stegeman, Kevin Stout, Bob Ferreira and Brian Eichenberger, backed by the George Beck Orchestra and directed by John Hasselback.
Although none of the original members of the group are still "on the road," former lead "voice" Bob Flanigan remains involved as the group's mentor and personal manager.
The group will be inducted into the new Vocal Group Hall of Fame in Sharon, Pa., on July 19.
"It's a Blue World" was group's first hit, followed by some 70 singles and albums.
Its latest CD, issued in 1994, is "Voices in Standards," a tribute to Frank Sinatra tunes. Scheduled for release later this year will be "Class in Session."
