BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Norman C. Severo, Ph.D., professor of statistics at the University at Buffalo, has been elected as a fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics.
A UB faculty member since 1961, Severo is also a fellow of the American Statistical Association and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and an elected member of the International Statistical Institute.
He also has served as a visiting professor at the Cornell University School of Medicine and the University of Campinas in Brazil.
Severo has authored or co-authored more than 40 research articles for publication. His major research areas include stochastic theory of epidemics and fluctuation theory.
He received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from UB and master's and doctoral degrees from the Carnegie Institute of Technology.
Severo lives in Williamsville.
