BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The largest gathering of Frank Lloyd Wright scholars and experts ever held in Buffalo will speak at a public forum on Sunday, Oct. 31, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society on the subject of the Darwin Martin House Restoration Project.

The forum will be held in conjunction with a two-day scholars' conference on the project being co-sponsored by the University at Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning and The Buffalo News, which provided major funding for the event.

Forum speakers include noted author, architectural consultant, conservator and Wright scholar Carla Lind; Wright's grandson, architect Eric Lloyd Wright, and a number of other nationally-regarded figures in the field.

Among them are Thomas Schmidt, president of the FLW Building Conservancy and director of Fallingwater, the Wright-designed residence near Pittsburgh, Pa.; Bruce Pfeiffer, director of the Frank Lloyd Wright Archives and trustee of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation at Taliesin West in Scottsdale, Ariz.; Wilbert Hasbrouck, the noted restoration architect whose Chicago firm produced Darwin Martin House Historic Site Report, and Robert Burley, director of the preservation program at the Frank Lloyd Wright Home in Taliesin, Spring Green, Wis.

The scholars will be in town to advise the principles in the Martin House project as to how to best approach a wide range of conservation, restoration, funding and operations issues that will arise as the project continues. They will take questions from the press during and after the forum.

The Martin House Scholars Conference will be presented by the UB School of Architecture and Planning and The Buffalo News, which provided major funding for the event.

The public forum will be sponsored by the UB School of Architecture and Planning, The Buffalo News and the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society.
