The Department of Theatre & Dance will present the musical “My Fair Lady,” the standard by which all other musicals are measured, April 28-30 and May 5-7 in the Drama Theatre in the Center for the Arts, North Campus.

Performance times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $10 for students from any school and seniors.

Based on George Bernard Shaw’s play “Pygmalion,” with book, music and lyrics by Lerner and Loewe, “My Fair Lady” tells the tale of a cockney flower girl transformed into an elegant lady. It features one of musical theatre’s greatest scores, with such songs as “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?,” “With a Little Bit of Luck,” “The Rain in Spain,” “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “On the Street Where You Live,” “Get Me to the Church on Time,” and “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face.”

The UB production, directed by Associate Professor Vincent O’Neill, director of the theatre performance concentration and artistic director of the Irish Classical Theatre Company, features a cast of 25 students from the Department of Theatre & Dance. Students will be accompanied by music faculty member Alison D’Amato and Alan Paglia on piano; choreography by Doug Weyand. The production features new sets and lavish costumes.

Tickets are available at the Center for the Arts box office and at Tickets.com.
