UB’s Sustainable Living Fair — the ultimate resource for members of the UB community who want to live a greener life — will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 22 in the Student Union on the North Campus.

The seventh annual fair, which is free and open to all UB faculty, staff and students, is sponsored by the Professional Staff Senate, UB Office of Sustainability and Campus Dining & Shops (CDS).

“The Sustainable Living Fair is a great way for our campus community to identify easy steps to lessen our footprint both here on campus and at home,” says Ryan McPherson, UB’s chief sustainability officer. “The Professional Staff Senate continues to provide critical sustainability leadership for our university and should be commended for their efforts.”

The event will feature dozens of local and national business and nonprofit organizations offering information and ideas on how to reduce our environmental footprint both at home and in the office. Among them are Buffalo BikeShare, Feel Rite Fresh Markets, Solar Liberty and the NYS Pollution Prevention Institute.

Campus-based organizations staffing information tables at the fair include Parking & Transportation, the Environmental Network, Outdoor Adventure Club and Career Services.

There will be door prizes, demonstrations and free samples, and attendees are encouraged to bring items to donate to the Goodwill, which will have a truck outside the Student Union.

The Pride of New York Showcase, usually hosted by CDS in conjunction with the Sustainable Living Fair, will take place the following day, Sept. 23, in the Student Union. The showcase, which will run from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., will feature organic and local produce, beverages, dairy products and fresh baked goods from local food partners.
