BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The administrative offices of the University at Buffalo's Millard Fillmore College (MFC) have moved to the UB Downtown Gateway, formerly the M. Wile & Co. building, at 77 Goodell St. in Buffalo.

While the administrative team is moving to a new home, current course and certificate programs will continue to be offered primarily online and on UB's North and South campuses for traditional classroom-style courses.

After nearly 60 years of being housed on UB's South Campus, MFC is returning to its roots in downtown Buffalo. Founded in 1923 as UB's "Evening Session" for men and women with limited access to higher education interested in pursuing a college degree, MFC was based in Niagara Square's Townsend Hall before relocating in 1953 to the South Campus as a way to accommodate the rapid growth of adult students -- primarily GIs returning after World War II.

Renamed in 1937 for UB's first chancellor and the 13th president of the United States, MFC evolved to become UB's college for continuing education and academic outreach. MFC is a fully accredited college of the university recommitted to serving adult students with a full complement of credit and non-credit academic programs and opportunities.

"MFC's move to the UB Downtown Gateway is significant to its mission and to UB's commitment to serving citizens of Western New York," said Larry R. Gingrich, associate dean of MFC. "We look forward to developing partnerships with business and organizations, and launching new programs for continuing and professional studies."

MFC joins the UB Regional Institute, UBMD and UB's Office of Economic Engagement Development in the historic structure that forms the gateway to UB's downtown campus and the nearby Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.

The UB Downtown Gateway provides space for community outreach, service and research programs with a public orientation. It also houses the Buffalo Employment and Training Center (BETC) and URS Corporation, non-UB entities.

MFC's Career Growth Tracks provide the opportunity to earn university academic credit and certifications in life sciences, healthcare, human resources, technology, business and legal studies. Adults interested in continuing their education or seeking opportunities for credentialing beyond their degree may contact MFC by phone at 716-829-3131, fax at 716-829-3475 or email at mfcadmin@buffalo.edu.

The University at Buffalo is a premier research-intensive public university, a flagship institution in the State University of New York system and its largest and most comprehensive campus. UB's more than 28,000 students pursue their academic interests through more than 300 undergraduate, graduate and professional degree programs.
