BUFFALO, N.Y. -- More than 200 nurses, faculty members and hospital administrators will help the University at Buffalo School of Nursing mark 75 years of excellence in nursing education and research at an anniversary cocktail reception to be held on Wednesday, May 25, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society, 25 Nottingham Terrace, Buffalo.

UB President Satish K. Tripathi will attend and will deliver brief remarks describing the enormous contribution UB's School of Nursing has provided to the communities at UB, in Western New York, across the state and the nation and around the world.

Major sponsors of the celebration are Catholic Health Systems, Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) and Kaleida Health. Joseph D. McDonald, CEO of Catholic Health, Jody Lomeo, CEO of ECMC, and Larry Zielinski, president of Buffalo General Hospital, vice president of Kaleida Health and president of the UB Alumni Association, will also attend the celebration.

Jean Brown, PhD, FAAN and dean of the School of Nursing, will also address the attendees about the importance of the school and its accomplishments.

"Our history demonstrates a strong and continual commitment to excellence and leadership," said Brown. "This is evident in the national ranking of our programs, continuous national accreditation, the seven faculty members and many alumni inducted in the elite American Academy of Nursing, numerous alumni who have become deans of schools of nursing and the more than 6,000 graduates of our programs."

The event will feature cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and dessert.

The anniversary cocktail celebration is $40 for the general public and $25 to UB School of Nursing students.
