BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The University at Buffalo's Center for the Arts and the University of Florida Center for the Arts in Healthcare, Research & Education announce the fourth annual Arts in Healthcare Clinical Practice Intensive, to be held Aug. 1-12 in the UB Center for the Arts.

The Arts in Healthcare Clinical Practice Intensive is designed for professionals and students who wish to explore the arts in health care environment and would like to develop or deepen their arts in health care practice. Both introductory and advanced clinical practice sections will be available.

Participants will explore the application of visual, performing and literary arts in the health care setting through sessions on the history and foundations of the field, hands-on workshops and clinical observation/practice. Study will be supported by in-depth investigation and discussion of current practice supported by recent research and theory.

The sessions will be led by Jill Sonke, director of the University of Florida Center for the Arts in Healthcare, Research & Education. A well-respected expert and educator in the field, Sonke is also the immediate past president of the board of directors of the international Society for the Arts in Healthcare. Sessions will also be led by the current artists in residence of the UB Center for the Arts, Arts in Healthcare Initiative.

Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Total cost for the two-week program is $850 ($750 if paid by June 17) for professionals and $765 ($700 if paid by June 17) for students. Scholarships are also available; visit http://www.ubcfa.org for details.
