Media Advisory: West Side Residents to Receive Care from UB School of Dental Medicine Today and Tomorrow

For the seventh year in a row, more than 200 residents of Buffalo's Lower West Side neighborhood will receive dental care from UB School of Dental Medicine faculty and dental-student volunteers over the course of two days at the Judge Joseph S. Mattina Community Health Center, 300 Niagara St. in Buffalo. UB faculty and students will attend to patients from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. today and tomorrow (Nov. 15 and 16).

In gratitude for UB's service, Judge Mattina will be having lunch with the volunteers at noon today.

Heidi Crow, UB associate professor and associate dean, oral diagnostics, and Yoly M. Gonzalez-Stucker, UB assistant professor in oral diagnostics, will be accompanied by their students to provide examinations, cleaning and follow-up care, if necessary, at the UB School of Dental Medicine on the South Campus.

"We provide the examinations and cancer screenings for the patients that we will see at the community center, and if they need care that cannot be provided onsite, we will give them appointment to come see us at the UB Dental Clinic," said Gonzalez-Stucker.

The event is sponsored by the Hispanic Dental Association and Kaleida Health.
