Popular String Group Barrage Returns to CFA on Oct. 4

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Center for the Arts at the University at Buffalo will present Barrage in "Animado" on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre in the Center for the Arts on the UB North (Amherst) Campus.

Barrage is described as a high-octane string group that features an international, multi-talented cast performing an eclectic mix of music, song and dance. This past season Barrage gave more than 200 performances in the United States, Europe, Asia and Canada.

The Barrage performance "Animado" offers up a diverse fusion of cultures, musical styles and incredible performance vitality. The music of Barrage continues to evolve -- combining contemporary world music influences, layered vocal arrangements and pulsating modern beats and rhythms. The cast delivers the new show with amazing energy and musical virtuosity.

Since its creation in Calgary, Canada, in 1996, Barrage has performed for millions of people worldwide. Barrage has also had television productions broadcast on PBS (United States), the BBC (United Kingdom) and CBC (Canada), and has performed live shows in New Zealand, Singapore, Guatemala, Taiwan, China, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Ireland, Denmark, Poland, Germany, Norway, Monaco, the U.S. and Britain.

The cast of Barrage features six violinists/vocalists, drummer, bassist, and a guitarist.

Tickets for Barrage in "Animado" are $26.50 general admission and $17.50 for students (any school).
