UB Police Officers Dale Hohl and Amy Pedlow will again participate in the Tour de Force bike ride to raise money for families of police officers killed in the line of duty.

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- University at Buffalo Police Officers Dale Hohl of North Tonawanda and Amy Pedlow of Grand Island are geared up and ready to hop on their bikes again this year to raise money for families of police officers killed in the line of duty and to continue to honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks.

"The ride is an opportunity for Amy and me to represent UB and Western New York while raising money for something we care very deeply about," said Hohl, who is also a volunteer firefighter.

This year's four-day, 260-mile Tour de Force 9/11 Memorial Bike Ride will start in Boston, Mass., on Sept. 11 and end at Ground Zero in New York City on Sept. 14. Among the 170 police officers and EMS personnel participating, Hohl and Pedlow are the only officers from Western New York. For last year's ride they raised $5,000 and set a high standard for other riders, according to event organizers.

This year, Hohl and Pedlow hope to double the amount they raised by selling $5 raffle tickets for the chance to win a 42" Sony TV or a 19" Audiovox TV/DVD player. The duo will be selling the raffle tickets and Tour de Force baseball hats on their lunch hour in the Student Union on UB's North (Amherst) Campus.

Members of the community can also contribute to the effort through the ride's Web site at http://www.tourdeforceny.com. Online contributions to the Hohl and Pedlow team are automatically entered into the TV raffle if contact information is provided. Winners will be announced August 28.

Hohl and Pedlow can be reached through the UB Police Department at (716) 645-2227 with any questions.
