BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The University at Buffalo Division of Continuing and Professional Studies will host a "Career Connection Expo" from 3-8 p.m. May 19 in Allen Hall on the UB South (Main Street) Campus to offer job seekers the opportunity to hear and meet representatives from employers representing growth industries such as life sciences, green industries, health care and entrepreneurship.

"Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore the many academic programs that the university offers, including the new Career/Life Transition Series that provides workers in transition an excellent starting point to reevaluate and access their talent and transferrable skills," said Tonnalee Batchelor, coordinator of outreach and workforce development in the UB Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) Division of Continuing and Professional Studies.

The Career/Life Transition Series offer courses such as Rethinking Your Game Plan, Coping with Change, Marketing Yourself and Embracing Technology. With the increase in unemployment numbers, a number of professionals are considering career transitions either as a result of corporate downsizing, plant closings or as an opportunity to remain competitive in a changing economy.

"The first step towards a career transformation is recognizing the need for change and committing yourself to that change," said Batchelor. "The Career Connection Expo provides attendees an excellent opportunity to network, hear from industry experts and plan how they can map the steps to a successful reinvention and career opportunity."

The cost to attend the Career Connection Expo is $25. Attendees will hear a panel discussion about career opportunities in Buffalo and meet one-on-one with industry representatives from invited companies. To register and obtain additional information, call (716) 829-3131 or email mfcadmin@buffalo.edu.
