Cancel Cancun. Forget Florida. Some University at Buffalo students will be spending spring break right here in Buffalo, working to improve their community.

Today (Monday, March 9, 2009), UB students and staff members will work with crews from the City of Buffalo to clean up graffiti in and around Linear Park at the edge of University Heights and remove trash from the area near the old train tracks at the end of Merrimac Street.

Volunteers will meet at 8 a.m. in the Gloria Parks Community Center, 3242 Main Street, before heading out to their sites, with clean up scheduled to take place between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Press arrangements: Christine Vidal in the Office of University Communications at 645-5000 ext. 1416, and Dan Ryan, UB director of off-campus services, on site at 716-830-5016 (cell) and Terri Frysh, UB community engagement coordinator, on site at 309-259-0384 (cell).
