UB to Host Science Series for Local Teachers

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The University at Buffalo will host the 2005-06 Western New York Science and Technology Forum, a weekly lecture series for local science teachers.

The series will kick off at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 14 with a lecture entitled "Unusual Soil Phenomena" presented by Charles H.V. Ebert, SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor Emeritus in the Department of Geography, UB College of Arts and Sciences.

All lectures in the series, with the exception of two field trips, will be held from 7:30-9:30 p.m., Sept. 14 through Jan. 11, in Room 201 of the Natural Sciences Complex on the UB North (Amherst) Campus.

Lectures will cover such topics as tsunamis, volcanoes, deer management and acupuncture. The series is designed to provide local science teachers with information on newest developments in the sciences that they then can incorporate into their classrooms.
