BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Fourteen students in the Department of Media Study in the University at Buffalo College of Arts and Sciences received departmental awards during the Spring 2003 semester.

They are:

o Jonathan Bryce of Canandaigua, the Pierre McAloon Award, given to students who have demonstrated creative work in film

o Eliza Goh of Singapore, the Levy-King-White Scholarship recognizing a student with outstanding academic achievement

o Zachary Gose of Lockport, the Pierre McAloon Award, given to students who have demonstrated creative work in film

o Brian Milbrand of Wheatfield, the Gregory Capasso Award, the highest award bestowed by the Department of Media Study for outstanding creative work in film, video, documentary or digital arts. The award is in memory of Gregory Capasso, a media study student who was killed when Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over Lockerby, Scotland.

o Lazara Nelson of Buffalo, the Pierre McAloon Award, given to students who have demonstrated creative work in film

o Ryan Schoelerman of Buffalo, the Gregory Capasso Award, the highest award bestowed by the Department of Media Study for outstanding creative work in film, video, documentary or digital arts. The award is in memory of Gregory Capasso, a media study student who was killed when Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over Lockerby, Scotland

o Kathy Wiesensel of Penfield, the Levy-King-White Scholarship recognizing a student with outstanding academic achievement

Recognized for honorable merit were:

o Rachel Brody of Williamsville

o Caroline Chia of Singapore

o Anna Lavatelli of Williamsville

o Mayling Lim of Singapore

o Cheryl Neo of Singapore

o Justin Pandolfino of New York City
