Mini-Med School to Present "Grand-Rounds" Course

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The University at Buffalo's Mini-Medical School will offer a four-session medical "grand-rounds" course on diagnosis and treatment, beginning July 18.

The course, which is designed for the public, will be held from 7-9 p.m. July 18, July 25, Aug. 1 and Aug. 8 in Butler Auditorium, Room 150, of Farber Hall on the South (Main Street) Campus.

The course format will be similar to a traditional "grand-rounds" session, in which clinicians and pathologists demonstrate to medical students and residents how to diagnose and treat diseases using real case histories.

Medical school faculty members who will conduct the grand rounds are Eugene Mindell, M.D., professor of orthopedic surgery; John Wright, M.D., medical school dean and professor of pathology; Alan Lesse, M.D., associate professor of medicine, and Donald M. Slate, M.D., associate clinical professor of pathology.

Also, Lucy Campbell, M.D., assistant professor of medicine; Linda Wild, M.D., associate professor of clinical pathology; Margaret Paroski, M.D., associate professor of clinical neurology, and Reid R. Heffner, M.D., professor and interim chair of the Department of Pathology in the medical school.

The Mini-Medical School is a community-service program of the UB medical school and sponsored by Esther and Don Davis.

Cost of the course is $30 for individuals or $45 per couple, $25 for senior citizens and $40 for senior-citizen couples and $20 for students.

The deadline for registration deadline is July 14.
