UB Department Of Media Study Recognizes Students

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Six students in the UB Department of Media Study received departmental awards during the Spring 2000 semester.

They are:

• Kristin Leone of Buffalo, the Pierre McAloon Memorial Award presented to students who have demonstrated creative work in film

• Howard Kim of Buffalo, the Pierre McAloon Memorial Award

• Siew-Wai Kok, originally of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and now of Buffalo, the Gregory Capasso Memorial Award presented to students who have demonstrated creative work in media production

• Leonardo Sette-Camara of Buffalo, the Gregory Capasso Memorial Award

• Willie Barnes of Buffalo, the Levy-King-White Scholarship recognizing a student with outstanding academic achievement.

• Jessica K. Cavano of Rome, Outstanding Senior in Media Study. A double major in media study and history, Cavano was designated the Outstanding Senior in both departments, and then was named the overall Outstanding Senior for the Humanities in the College of Arts and Sciences.
