Students Inducted Into Residence Halls Alumni Group

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Kaya Gerberich and Michael Patterson, graduating seniors at UB, recently were inducted into the Association of Alumni and Friends, the alumni group of the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH).

The inductions were performed by the UB Bulls Chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH), the honor society for the top 1 percent of residence-hall leaders in the United States and Canada.

Induction into the Association of Alumni and Friends is the highest honor that the UB Bulls Chapter of NRHH can bestow. Inductees must be graduating seniors who have demonstrated a proven commitment to the residence halls.

Gerberich, of Oswego, is the founder and first president of the UB Bulls Chapter of NRHH. She also has been a resident advisor, community assistant in the Hadley Village student apartment complex, Red Jacket Hall Council president and Red Jacket Hall Council co-advisor.

Patterson, of Tully, is the first vice president for finance of the UB Bulls chapter. He also has been a resident advisor, a Hadley Village community assistant, Porter Hall Council treasurer and the co-chair of the 1999 "Mini No Frills Conference" of the Northeast affiliate of NACURH.

The UB Bulls Chapter of the NRHH also inducted the following students as members: senior Marie Balfour of Schnectady, a resident advisor in Richmond Hall and a member of the Richmond Hall Council; junior Emily Litman of New Paltz, a resident advisor in Richmond Hall and a member of the Richmond Hall Council; junior Sanna Padela of Pittsford, founder, president and resident advisor of the Pre-Health Shared-Interest Housing Area who will be an academic assistant in the residence halls next year, and senior Barry Steinberger of Plainview, the first president of the Hadley Village Council and a former three-term treasurer of the Spaulding Hall Council.
