BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Robert Daly, Ph.D., SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor in the departments of English and Comparative Literature at UB, will discuss "Lies All Lies: Reading Fictions for Fun and Profit" at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 22 in the Screening Room in the Center for the Arts on the North Campus.
One would think that advertising and human frailty would supply us with all the lies we need. Yet, many people seek out more under the guise of literature. While some claim to read only for pleasure, others claim to have gained some knowledge, wisdom or skill that has led to success in fields far removed from literature. In his talk, Daly will explore what reading fiction can do to and for us.
The lecture, free and open to the public, will be presented by the UB College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Lecture Series. For more information, call 645-3692.
