Mohammed Named Director of Admissions, Student Affairs In UB Graduate School of Social Work

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Alison L. Mohammed, a 1996 graduate of the University at Buffalo Graduate School of Social Work, has been named the school's director of recruitment, admissions and student affairs.

In her new position, she will be responsible for student recruitment in Western New York, Northern Pennsylvania and Southern Ontario.

Her duties also will include coordination of the school's commencement and orientation activities and student-support services.

Mohammed served as a part-time faculty member in the UB social work school and was senior staff assistant in the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs at Buffalo State College before accepting her new position.

A native and resident of Buffalo, she received a bachelor of arts degree in communication from Buffalo State in 1978.

She also has held positions with the Urban Task Force; the Geneva B. Scruggs Community Health Care Center, Inc.; the Buffalo Federation of Neighborhood Centers, Inc., and Resource Planning Associates, Inc.

A 1996 recipient of the Black Achievers Award, she has served as a board member with the Metropolitan Buffalo Alliance of Black School Educators.

In addition, Mohammed has been a volunteer with numerous community organizations, including the Community Enterprise Federal Credit Union and the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County.
