Graduate education and the inseparable climate of scholarly research within which it flourishes, are essential to the intellectual vigor and innovation providing the distinguishing characteristic of a university community. The responsibility for maintaining excellence in graduate education lies with the Graduate Faculty, with the support of its administrative officers.
The mission of the Graduate School is threefold: to promote and maintain excellence in graduate programs and in the scholarly and creative activities of graduate faculty and students; to stimulate and promote interdisciplinary research and education; and to improve and preserve the academic environment within which graduate education and research occur.
The charter and bylaws, by which the University at Buffalo's
Graduate School operates, are outlined in the document below.
