Tuition Assistance Programs

UUP Tuition Free Program: Both full-time and part-time UUP employees are eligible to participate.

The Tuition Assistance Programs on campus provide faculty and staff the opportunity to enroll and take a course per semester, covered by the UB UUP tuition free program.  Both full and part-time UUP employees are eligible to participate.

UUP Tuition Free Program

Tuition assistance is available on any one (1) SUNY-sponsored credit bearing course that qualifies for this waiver.  The waiver covers 100 percent cost of tuition. You will still be required to pay all fees associated with the course.

This waiver is valid for one course per semester or per summer session.

If you are taking an undergraduate course, you must apply as a non-matriculated student or apply and be accepted to the correlating degree academic program.  If you are taking a graduate course, you must apply as a non-matriculated student or apply and be accepted to the correlating degree academic program via the GrAdMIT online application. Part-time and non-degree seeking status eligibility is up to the discretion of the individual department and faculty.

Upon acceptance, you must apply for the UUP tuition free waiver online.  You or the department are unable to register for the class.  However, registration is completed through the Office of the Registrar. You will be notified once registration is completed.

Upon registration of your course, Human Resources sends the tuition waiver to Student Accounts to apply to the your bill.  This process takes 2-4 weeks.

Please note, outstanding balances in Student accounts must first be cleared.  Deadlines coincide with the last day to drop/add courses as indicated for each semester and summer session.

SUNY B140W Program

To be eligible for this program, you must be a University employee with State (ALES, CSEA, NYSCOPBA, PBANYS, PEF, or UUP), Research Foundation or UBF affiliation, and working at least half time. You must have a minimum of six months of service prior to the beginning of the course.

Eight credit hours per semester of tuition assistance can be funded, not to exceed 15 credit hours per year (summer, fall, and spring terms).  Course(s) must be credit bearing.  For full-time employees, 50 percent tuition is routinely waived as long as funding lasts; 100 percent tuition is waived for state employees, if the course work is required, based on their performance evaluation on file, in Personnel, and approved by the appropriate VP in their decanal area or the Provost.  For part-time employees, 25 percent tuition is waived.

Upon acceptance, you must follow the normal class registration process.

After registration, you should complete a B140W application and mail the form to University Human Resources, 120 Crofts Hall, North Campus.
