The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest and most diverse unit on campus, with dozens of departments, academic programs, centers and institutes – as well as art galleries and performance venues. Dental Medicine

The School of Dental Medicine offers education and training leading to the D.D.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees, as well as certificates in advanced general dentistry, endodontics, general practice residency, oral and maxillofacial surgery/MD, oral and maxillofacial pathology, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, and prosthodontics.


The Graduate School of Education trains students for successful careers as university presidents and administrators, principals, superintendents, psychologists, counselors, information specialists, librarians, teachers and more. Departments include Counseling, School, and Educational Psychology; Educational Leadership and Policy; Learning and Instruction; and Library and Information Studies.


The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences is the largest and most comprehensive public school of engineering in New York State, offering degree programs in six departments. Our per faculty research expenditure puts us in the top 10 percent of engineering schools in the United States according to NSF collected data.


SUNY Buffalo Law School is the State University of New York system’s only law school, and is widely regarded as a leader in legal education. Its cutting-edge curriculum provides both a strong theoretical foundation and the practical tools graduates need to succeed in a competitive marketplace, wherever they choose to practice.


The School of Management has been recognized by The Wall Street Journal as one of the best in the world, earning praise for producing graduates who possess the skills and attributes most valued by businesses throughout the world. The School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences includes dozens of departments, and offers Master’s programs, Ph.D. programs, an M.D. program, Graduate Medical Education residency program and Continuing Medical Education, as well as postdoctoral and dual-degree programs. Our new, downtown medical school will connect to nearby hospitals and research facilities.

The School of Nursing is ranked in the top 20% by US News and World Report, and is the top-ranked graduate school of nursing in the SUNY system. We offer numerous Doctor of Nursing (DNP) programs that prepare nurses to practice at the highest level, as well as an Advanced Certificate in Nurse Education and a Ph.D. program.


The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is ranked among the top pharmacy schools in the United States, and considered one of the most prestigious. Encompassing the departments of pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical sciences, the school offers professional and graduate programs as well as multifaceted research opportunities.


The School of Public Health and Health Professions offers degrees at the graduate, professional and doctoral levels through our five departments: biostatistics; community health and health behavior; exercise and nutrition sciences; rehabilitation science; and social and preventive medicine. A new department in health services policy and practice is in development.


The Roswell Park Graduate Division is an academic collaboration with Roswell Park Cancer Institute – the world’s first cancer research institute and a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Students have many choices for their research focus, from the basic investigation of cancer mechanisms to translational/clinical research with direct relevance to disease treatment. 


The School of Social Work is a highly ranked, CSWE-accredited graduate school offering MSW and PhD degrees, as well as continuing professional education.
Our unique MSW degree offers students the opportunity to individualize their advanced year curriculum, and the PhD in social welfare offers an individualized interdisciplinary approach that utilizes the extensive resources of the university.
